A DIY + Gifts to Me!!!!

So the first thing I must mention is....I finally got a DSLR!!!! I am so happy! I simply cannot wait to start taking pictures with this baby! It's the beginning of a beautiful relationship people, so beware!
Secondly, along with the purchase of a new camera; one must also purchase a camera carrying bag! Which amazon so very kindly happen to find for me while I was browsing around on their site. What I love about it is that it's perfect to disguise what's inside AND it can also be used as a purse! Which if you can't notice, I am using this excuse to justify the purchase. Oh well......I needed it! Don't judge me.
As for the shorts, I wanted to get a pair of scalloped shorts when they were all the rage, but I was never able to find a pair I really liked, UNTIL...my random adventure to the thrift store this past weekend scored me the beauties above! But don't let the picture fool you; these babies were really long Bermuda looking shorts which I cut into scalloped shorts! What can I say.....I'm crafty! Haha! But yeah another few things I lucked out on in the shorts, was that they are floral and they are in a pretty shade of a coral peach, which is perfect for spring! I cannot wait to style these lovelies!
So that's it! Sorry I have no outfit shots, but continue on staying tuned for them!

At The Park

This park/school was randomly found yesterday, while enjoying a nice outing in the warm sun. It's such a nice place to go for a walk and also to most importantly, take outfit pictures!

It had been awhile since I have gone to take outside pictures and capture the beauty of the great outdoors, so you can imagine how happy I was, when my special person most pleasantly agreed to take my pictures for me. I usually take my own pictures on the trusty old tripod, but every once in awhile I have the help of two of my friends to take them for me, and boy, is that nice!

It's awesome when one doesn't have to keep running back and forth from camera to location just to take a few outfit pictures. It's also nice to avoid those weird looks from strangers that comes with taking your own outfit pics. Girls, I know you can feel me on this!

So yeah, about the outfit, it's very simple. I wanted to try print mixing  to change things up a bit and I think it worked out fine. The colors in the floral skirt really mixed well with the black and white stripes, I thought. I have been wanting to try print mixing for awhile but I was always so unsure if I could find the right combinations. A lot of people don't really understand the mixing of different prints because we are so used to pairing a print with a solid color, but all I can tell you is that, all it takes is a bit of confidence and creativity and you have an awesome unique outfit created entirely by you!

Lastly, I want to share with you guys the luck that I had while thrifting with my mom. If you guys read my outfit description below, you would see that I scored an authentic Coach leather belt, all for only 3.00! I mean how much more luckier can a person get! I have never been able to score a designer piece at the thrift store and wouldn't you believe how excited I was when I found this baby!

Usually to get pieces like these around my town you would have to acquire it from the glass encased part of the thrift store, which usually means you will be paring more for it than it hanging on the rack. So you can understand my excitement when I saw it hanging there amongst all the other belts, just waiting for me to pick it up and buy it. Good thing I had the urge to look for a belt or else, I would have never had found it.

Flower Power

Excuse the post absence, but the weather has been awful the past few days! It has made it impossible to write anything, okay not really but it's been cold, okay!!!! When the weather gets cold and rainy, the lazy bum in me just wants to sit on my couch whilst indulging in a bag of popcorn, and watch endless amounts of T.V.
Take for example that fairy tale saga on ABC "Once Upon A Time." that show has me hooked to the T.V so much that last Sunday, I stayed in and watched 6 episodes of it back to back just to catch up on the new episodes.

Okay.... enough of the non-related fashion talk. These pictures were taken inside of my apartment in the area of nothingness that has been waiting to get filled with stuff since I moved in to the place. So anyways about the dress, it is one of the latest things I acquired from the clearance section at Target. It was just hanging there waiting for my little hands to pick it up and take it home with me. Good thing I arrived or it would have been lost amongst the sea of clothing that still stood there waiting.

I was really drawn to the color of it. It is perfect for Spring and Summer and it's covered in: FLORALS! Just like I like it! Now as for the necklace, that was a piece I found at a very small thrift store near my house that my parents found one day while driving around. It has a some vintage clothing and many, many, vintage houseware things. I like that first of all it is vintage and that secondly it is in style right now. It reminds me of those collar necklaces that a lot of fashion bloggers are sporting these days.

But what I really, really, like about it is that it cost me $1.50! Who can beat that?! $1.50 for a vintage necklace! Yep, I know how to find the good stuff!
