Polka Dotty

I have been hoarding this dress without wearing it, for like a year and  a half! I ordered this dress through Ruche, and I was so happy when I got it, and thought of so many ways to wear it, that I ended up not wearing it at all till this day. I always knew that I was going to wear it but somehow, I just never got around to it. Has this ever happened to you guys?

Sometimes you buy a piece of clothing with every intention of wearing it, but somehow, you just never do.
I sometimes think about all the cold and lonely nights it must have spent in my closet with all the other forgettables hanging in there, wondering how at any moment, it too would be the next in line to get donated. So sad and lonely are the days of a forgotten piece of clothing!

There are times when I say to myself: "Self... when are you going to stop shopping for more clothes and actually wear all the ones still hanging in your closet?!" I feel that most of the time, I ignore that part of me quite often, and I don't even bother to actually LISTEN to what I'm telling myself. I bet you guys are all saying how crazy I just sounded, but it's TRUE! Haven't you guys ever found yourselves saying the same thing?! Am I the only one who thinks this way or is it my mind playing tricks on me and my wallet?

All I know is that, I need to stop shopping and start going through my closet more often and wear the things I have in abundance in there. It's gonna be a tough road, but I gotta do it.
Sometimes I wanna do one of those 30 for 30 day things. You know, the challenge in which you wear 30 articles of clothing for thirty days to see how many outfits you can come up with. I wonder if I would have the discipline to do that?! It's a fabulous concept and whoever created it, deserves a medal for it. I mean, being able to make 30 outfits out of 30 articles of clothing and wearing only those for 30 days?! Is that even possible?! I think I may just have to try this out. Hmm????

She-Leopard

Yes, the above title is somewhat of a rip-off of Shakira'sShe-wolf song...but I don't care! I love Shakira and if I desire to similarly name my title after her song, then so be it!
So in honor of that song, I decided to title this blog post, She- Leopard. Only because sometimes I do feel like we are all in disguise at one point or another. I mean, haven't you guys in one time or another felt as if you had to change your persona because you were afraid of what others might think or say?! I used to because I was afraid of what others might think about me. But I have decided that no one can tell me who to be, what to wear, or how to act. I am a woman who is responsible for her own actions, thoughts, and/or decisions and I will be damned if I let others dictate those things for me. So in essence, I am letting the She-Leopard out and letting her breathe. In my life, as well as in my choice of clothing.

I have decided that I will not give in to people's expectations of what I should be or how I should dress. I will just focus on being who I am and what I want to be. If people aren't happy with what I do or what I say, then that is their problem. I will no longer try to be something or do something just because "time is ticking" or "It looks weird". Instead, I chose to live this life to the fullest, be happy and content with what I have, and strive to being a better and strong-willed woman. One who can think for herself and make her own choices. So in the words of Helen Reddy, I quote: "I am woman, hear me roar!"

Okay... so enough of the serious talk and on to the reason why you guys are probably here.
So in regards to the pants, I have never owned a pair of leopard bottoms before, so when I saw these baby's  hanging on the rack at Ross, I decided to bite the bullet and just get them. They are seriously THE MOST, comfortable and SEXIEST pair of jeans I own! I love the fit of them and I love that they scream sexy without being over the top. And who doesn't like feeling sexy every once in awhile?! I sure do!

I love the touch of fierceness it brings to my outfit and I like how it adds life to what could possibly be a very boring outfit. The flats also added an element of edge with their gold studs shining through. I know that these flats aren't everyone's cup of tea because they could add too much hardness to one's outfit, but worn with the right clothes they can tie an outfit together and make it more fun. I always look for something that will add a bit of flair to an outfit, so I was instantly drawn to these shoes. I must admit, the shininess of the studs also grabbed my attention.

As for the pictures below; I was either pretending to be Shakira or I was practicing my bellydance goddess pose. Which I used to take, if any of you were interested in knowing. Not that I think you were! But anyways... Please don't judge. I have a tendency to get crazy in my pictures sometimes if I feel it's getting too serious. Any thoughts on any of the things spoken here today, feel free to comment below. A response or any sign of life is always welcome!

So Collar-ful!

Do you guys ever see trends and you say to yourself "I'll never wear those!" and then you find yourself heading right for the article you rejected in the first place?! Well, this is exactly what happened to me when I went on a little excursion to Marshall's a bit ago.
I had made up my mind that I did not like collar blouses, due to the fact that they had the same principle as a turtleneck; the choking neck situation. But then, as I saw this blouse hanging on the rack in all it's blush pink glory, I decided I should not discriminate against it and I should take it to the fitting room and give it a try. So try I did and the deal was done. I was a closet-lover of the collar blouses! Imagine my surprise! I have to admit, that with all the buttons buttoned up all the way to the top, I do look more put-together and a bit more refined, if I do say so myself!

So with that said, I now want more of these babies in different colors and in different prints. UGH! I feel another shopping addiction coming on. This is not good. Have any of you ever had an experience in which you rejected something and then found yourself loving it?! Thoughts and experiences welcome!

Thrifting Ain't Easy

This was my work outfit from last week, I forgot to upload this that day....sorry guys! Anyways, I want to start off this post by saying...I love thrifting! I mean shopping is already good in itself but going someplace to find awesome articles of clothing that no one is probably rocking right now, is even ten times BETTER!

At a thrift store you will be able to find things for a cheap price; things that you would probably find for a lot more money at regular retail stores. Not that that is a problem, but sometimes a girl just wants to save some money and still be able to shop. Ladies, I think you can agree with me on this, right?!

So yes I understand that a lot of people would say that thrifting is horrible because you are buying things that other people have worn, but I mean, it's not like you can't wash them and BAM.... they are clean again! It's just as if, you had worn something that belonged to your good friend and she let's you borrow it. I mean she has worn it and now, so will you!
I think that people should really re-think this whole concept they have on the whole wearing things from thrift stores, it's really not that bad. So what are your thoughts on thrift stores and wearing clothes from there?

FALL!

FALL!

FALL! by jessiki83 featuring high heels

Fall is going to before here even before I finish writing this post. It's hard to believe that we will have to say good-bye to Summer dresses with bare legs, hot summer nights, and all those wonderful things that come with Summer.
But alas, with the arrival of Fall, come the warm fall colors, boots, scarves, and all those things we all love. I mean it's awesome being able to wear boots in the summer, but I prefer to rock them in the colder months. I look forward to joining in on some or all of the Fall Trends this month. I'm especially looking forward to rocking, faux keather pants or leggings, printed pants, wine and green colored clothing, baroque prints, and others. What trends are you guys interested in wearing this season??!!!

Printed Pants are Awesome!

So I just recently fell into the whole printed pants trend, and let me just say...I love it! I love the fact that I can wear prints not only on my tops, but now I can wear them on my bottoms and I couldn't be happier! The good thing about this trend is that it makes it possible to play around with different styles, while also taking a risk.

Take for example these pants I decided to pick up at my local H&M. To me, they look like a cross between a cosmic and splattered paint print. But who knows, they could be something totally different. But what I love about them, is that I can wear them casual like I chose to do in this outfit, or I can dress it up with a blazer and heels, and turn it into a much more dressier ensemble.

But yeah, so the printed pants trend is going to be big for the 2012 Fall season, so I suggest you guys go and look for some printed pants to rock in the Fall. I have already started, as you guys can already tell but I promise you, I am no way near to being done with purchasing more. I have yet to acquire some in a floral pattern. That will be my next hunt. What are some of the Fall trends that you guys are going to be following this year?! Let me know by leaving me a comment, or feel free to shoot me an email or whatever you guys feel like doing.
